
Imports to Moldova in increased January-May 2021 by 35.2%, amounting to $2 billion 676.7 million versus the same period in 2020.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) informed that, at the same time, traditionally, most of the goods were imported into the country by road - 86.4% of the total. Railway transport accounted for 4.5% of total imports, air transport - 2.4%, sea transport - 2.1%, self-propelled imports - 0.5%, mail - 0.2%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, power grids) - 3.9% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports to Moldova of products from EU countries for 5 months in 2021, relative to the same period of 2020, increased by 36.8% - to $1 billion 267.1 million, from the CIS countries - increased by 25% - to $612.3 million. Import of goods from other states increased by 41.4% - to $797.3 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 46.8% to 47.34%, the share of CIS countries decreased from 24.74% to 22.87%, and the share of other states - increased from 28.47% to 29.79%. The TOP countries, which accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports in January-May 2021, included: Romania (12.5% of total imports), Russia (11.9%), China (11.8%), Ukraine (8.8%), Germany (8.5%), Turkey (7.2%), Italy (6.7%), Poland (3.9%), France (2.8%), Hungary ( 2%), Belarus (1.8%), Czech Republic (1.7%), USA and Austria (1.5% each), Spain (1.4%), Bulgaria and Holland (1.1% each), Great Britain and Japan (1% each). At the same time, according to the NBS, over 5 months in 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, imports to Moldova from the following countries increased: from China (+ 49.3%), Romania (+ 35.1%), Germany (+ 39.8%), Russia (+24, 1%), Turkey (+ 41.9%), Italy (+ 42%), Hungary (+ 27.8%), Poland (+ 35.6%), France (+ 28.4%), Austria (in 1.7 times), Czech Republic (+ 47.4%), USA (+ 46.3%), Hungary (+ 26.7%), Vietnam (2 times), Argentina (6.3 times), Belarus (+ 27%), Bulgaria (+ 40.2%), Spain (+ 23.7%), Holland (+ 32.9%), Japan (+ 31.7%), Great Britain (+ 24.5%), Slovakia (1.6 times), India (+ 36.4%), Portugal (1.6 times), Belgium (+ 25.8%), Sweden (+ 44.2%), Switzerland (+28.4%), South Korea (+ 19.9%), Slovenia (+ 27.9%), Norway (1.7 times), Latvia (1.5 times), Uzbekistan (1.7 times), Malaysia (+ 45.6%), Taiwan (+ 29.7%), Ecuador (+ 21%), Chile (2.6 times), Greece (+ 16.9%), Denmark (+29.8 %), Kazakhstan (+ 33.2%), Croatia (1.8 times), Bangladesh (+ 35.2%), Morocco (1.7 times), Thailand (+ 36.1%), Costa Rica (3 times), Estonia (1.8 times), Finland (+ 26.1%), Indonesia (+ 42.6%), Australia (4.3 times).
