
Imports to Moldova in January-April 2021 increased by 28%, amounting to $2 billion 112.3 million, compared to the same period in 2020.
The National Bureau of Statistics informed that, at the same time, traditionally, most of the goods were imported into the country by road - 86.5% of the total. Railway transport accounted for 4.4% of total imports, air transport - 2.5%, sea transport - 1.7%, self-propelled imports - 0.6%, postal items - 0.2%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, power grids) - 4.1% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports to Moldova of products from EU countries in the first 4 months of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, increased by 29.3% - to $1 billion 005 million, from the CIS countries - increased by 18.9% - to $489.6 million. Import of goods from other states increased by 33.9% - to $617.7 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 47.1% to 47.58%, the share of CIS countries decreased from 24.95% to 23.18%, and the share of other states - increased from 27.94% to 29.24%. The TOP countries that accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports in January-April 2021 included: Romania (12.3% of total imports), Russia (12.2%), China (11.2%), Ukraine (8.7%), Germany (8.5%), Turkey (7.4%), Italy (6.6%), Poland (3.9%), France (3%), Hungary (2.1%), Belarus (1.8%), Czech Republic (1.7%), USA, Spain and Austria (1.5% each), Bulgaria and Holland (1.1% each).
