
The volume of Moldovan exports in January-May 2021 amounted to $1 billion 104.7 million, up 12.7% compared to the same period in 2020.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) informed that, the export of domestic goods over 5 months in 2021 amounted to $817.3 million (74% of the total), up 7.4% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the re-export of goods in January-May 2021 amounted to $287.4 million (26% of the total), which is 30.8% more than in the same period in 2020. At the same time, the re-export of goods after processing (clothing, shoes, shoe parts, armchairs, electrical wiring and cables, other products for the automotive industry, peeled nuts, chairs and other furniture, suitcases, textiles, toys, etc.) accounted for 17.6% of total exports, while classic re-export of foreign goods (medicines, cigarettes, wine distillates, whiskey, gin, vodka, liqueurs, beer, fuel, textiles, knitwear, essential oils, perfumes and cosmetics, vehicles, furniture, etc.) - 8.4 %. According to the NBS, for the export of goods abroad in the specified period, motor transport was most often used - 92.7% of the total volume, followed by sea transport - 5.4%, air - 1.1%, rail - 0.7% as well as postal transport means - 0.1%. In general, Moldovan exports to the EU countries in January-May 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, increased by 16.5% - to $720.4 million, to the CIS countries - increased by 7.3% - to $173.4 million, and to other countries - increased by 5.1% - to $210.9 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan exports for the specified period increased from 63.06% to 65.21%, the share of CIS countries - decreased from 16.48% to 15.69%, while the share of other countries decreased from 20.47% to 19.09%. According to the NBS, over 5 months in 2021, the main countries of destination for Moldovan exports were: Romania (27.8% of total Moldovan exports), Germany (10.4%), Russia (9.5%), Turkey (9.1%), Italy (7 %), Poland (3.9%), Czech Republic (3.1%), Ukraine (2.8%), Belarus (2.4%), Great Britain (1.8%), Spain (1.6%), Holland, Hungary and Portugal (1.5% each), Switzerland, France and Bulgaria (1.3% each), Greece (1.1%). At the same time, in January-May 2021, relative to the same period of 2020, Moldova increased exports to Romania (+ 27.4%), Germany (+ 35.5%), Turkey (+ 42.2%) , Hungary (2.6 times), Ukraine (+ 33.3%), Portugal (1.8 times), Belgium (2.1 times), Great Britain (+ 30%), Lebanon (+46.1 %), Russia (+ 2.7%), Poland (+ 6.5%), Libya (131.7 times), Egypt (23.1 times), Holland (+ 11.7%), Uzbekistan ( 2.2 times), Israel (1.7 times), Canada (1.6 times), Czech Republic (+ 3.9%), Slovakia (+ 29%), China (+ 26.7%), USA (+ 9.3%), Nigeria (2.4 times), North Macedonia (1.9 times), Georgia (+ 6%). At the same time, during the specified period, Moldova reduced exports to Switzerland (-60.5%), Greece (-37%), Italy (-7.6%), Indonesia (-87.1%), Cyprus (-52 %), Spain (-11.8%), Bulgaria (-12.8%), Estonia (-59.6%), France (-9.8%), Belarus (-4.4%), Jordan ( -78.8%), Saudi Arabia (-42.9%), South Africa (-64.3%), Taiwan (-81.7%), Iraq (-17%), Morocco (-84%).
