IFAD allocates grants of up to $500,000 for the development of irrigation systems in Moldova

This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, noting that the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation of Programmes of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (UCIP IFAD) supports investments in irrigation infrastructure, offering grants of up to $500,000 for the development of this sector in rural areas of Moldova. Grants are provided to local authorities jointly with interested groups of small farmers or associations of users of water for irrigation jointly with the National Agency for Land Reclamation, local agricultural enterprises. The following types of investments are eligible for grants: small irrigation systems connected to existing central irrigation systems; small irrigation systems using local water sources, including pumping stations from natural water bodies (rivers, lakes); construction and restoration of lakes and reservoirs for irrigation. UCIP IFAD also offers free technical assistance for the preparation of funding dossiers, facilitating access to funds for local agricultural development.
