In order to ensure a better future for viticulture, it is extremely important for Moldova to reduce its dependence on imported planting material – Ministry of Agriculture
This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga during a meeting at the department with representatives of grape nurseries, small and large wine producers, with whom the current situation and prospects of the wine sector were discussed. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the participants in the discussions spoke about the problems they face, proposed solutions to improve the situation and eliminate problems. The head of the agricultural department drew attention to the importance of cooperation between government agencies, local producers and research institutes to develop a sustainable strategy adapted to the realities of Moldova. Ludmila Catlabuga noted that in any area of agribusiness, the basis is raw materials. "Its quality is very important, but adding value here, at home, is no less important. I firmly support this principle. One of the important aspects for the future of our viticulture is reducing dependence on imported planting material. “It is very important that we support local producers in developing their capacity to provide quality planting material adapted to our regional characteristics,” the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry emphasized. According to her, Moldova has well-trained people capable of producing quality planting material. “The wine sector does the right things and does them well, but there is always room for improvement. At the Ministry, we initiate discussions with each sector to find solutions. At the same time, it is important that this cooperation also extends to you, the players in the sector. Wine producers must engage in dialogue with those who produce planting material, with those who produce grapes, and with research institutes,” said Ludmila Catlabuga. // 12.12.2024 — InfoMarket
