Owners of over 1,200 plots of agricultural land affected by drought and heat wave in 2024 included in preliminary list of beneficiaries of financial assistance
According to the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA), the screening and identification of preliminary land areas eligible for financial assistance to farmers affected by the 2024 natural disasters on wheat and corn has been completed and a preliminary list of potential beneficiaries has been compiled. The agency noted that the preliminary list is considered a public notice for all applicants, and if a farmer does not agree with the preliminary calculated eligible area, he can contact AIPA representatives within 15 days to clarify all the circumstances. If potential beneficiaries do not respond to the AIPA public notice, this will be considered as tacit consent of farmers, and the established area will be taken as the basis for calculating the financial amount per 1 beneficiary. The list of the declared and eligible areas is available at the link: https://aipa.gov.md/en/suport-financiar. As a reminder, 100 million lei were allocated from the Government Intervention Fund to partially compensate for the damage caused by drought and extreme heat in 2024 to wheat and corn. Assistance is provided to affected farmers if, according to the findings, drought and extreme heat affected at least 60% of the corn harvest or at least 70% of the wheat harvest. In October, AIPA reported that 1,063 farmers had submitted applications. // 14.11.2024 – InfoMarket.
