The deadline to apply for partial compensation for farmers affected by natural disasters in 2023 expires on March 15.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry reminded that until the end of this working week, farmers can apply for financial aid intended to compensate for the damage caused by natural disasters in 2023. Farmers must submit a package of documents, including an application for financial aid for corn, a copy of the certificate of registration of the farm, a copy of the act of ascertaining the damage caused to crops, a certificate of confirmation from local authorities, etc. It is worth mentioning that 50 million lei was allocated from the government's Intervention Fund to partially compensate the damage caused to corn crops as a result of drought in 2023 and to fixed assets as a result of storms and rain with hail on July 25 in Edinet district. Assistance will be provided if, according to the acts of ascertainment, the drought has damaged at least 60% of the corn crop or if the hurricane has destroyed fixed assets that cannot be restored. The amount of assistance will be determined depending on the affected area and the degree of damage - from 1000 lei/ha to 2500 lei/ha, and in Edinet district - taking into account the total amount of losses. It is worth mentioning that the producers in Cantemir, Cahul, Stefan-Voda, Leova and Taraclia districts suffered the most from the last year's drought. In some localities of Cahul and Cantemir districts, up to 90-100% of corn plantations were affected. In total, according to preliminary estimates, about 400 farmers will benefit from the government's urgent financial assistance. // 12.03.2024 - InfoMarket.
