Farmers will be allocated 200 million lei to reduce the cost of fertilizers and plant protection products incurred in 2023.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry submitted for public consultations a draft government decree on the allocation of assistance to farmers affected by the rise in prices for fertilizers, as well as the procedure for distributing this assistance. The document provides for the allocation of 200 million lei to the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) from the government's reserve fund. The funds will be used to provide one-time assistance to farmers producing grains of the first group to mitigate the effects of high prices for fertilizers and plant protection products that were used to obtain grain crops in 2023. Assistance will be received by producers of grains of the first group (wheat, barley, oats, triticale), which in 2023 cultivate arable land from 0.5 to 1,500 hectares sown with crops from the first group. The beneficiaries must have a bank account in national currency, keep a register of fertilizer use and have all tax invoices confirming the corresponding purchases of fertilizers and plant protection products. The amount of assistance per hectare will depend on the number of applications submitted by agricultural producers, using a beneficiary categorization factor, depending on the area of farmland that each applicant cultivates. Assistance will be distributed through AIPA, applications will be accepted until the end of July. Consultations on the draft resolution are held until July 15: https://goo.su/9OTsU. // 07.07.2023 — InfoMarket
