Domestic milk producers are not able provide the minimum required milk volume for the domestic market - Vladimir Bolea.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, this was stated by the Minister at a meeting with state secretary Iurie Scripnic and representatives of the milk processing sector within the framework of the Consultative Council. The Minister noted that the subsidies provided for the development of livestock contributed to an increase in the number of livestock 2 times, but not an increase in the volume of milk. Therefore, from January 1, 2023, subsidies will be provided per liter of milk. At the same time, subsidies will be paid on livestock as well. Processors must also participate in the support and development of farms. The Ministry of Agriculture wants this sector to be sustainable, to innovate and to cut costs. Bolea said an optimization program is needed. He pointed out that about 520 thousand tons of raw milk is needed for domestic consumption. However, Moldovan producers are not even close to being able to provide this volume. At present there are 41 milk processing plants in our country, of which only two import milk. These processing plants produce about 90% of all dairy products; the remaining 10% belong to small producers. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first half of 2022, processing companies produced 86 thousand 638.2 tons of dairy products, which is about 7% less than the same period in 2021. The industrialization of the agrarian sector will create added value, and the goal of the Ministry is to be as efficient and competitive as possible to ensure the country's food security. // 29.09.2022 - InfoMarket
