EIB will allocate more than 40 million euros to increase productivity and competitiveness of the agricultural sector of Moldova.

This was stated by the head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Moldova Alberto Carley at a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the sides discussed new financial opportunities that may be created for Moldovan farmers and agricultural educational institutions. Vladimir Bolea said that the ministry welcomes the acceleration of scientific and technological progress, and in this regard, the development of projects aimed at improving the educational and research process in agricultural colleges and faculties of agriculture will be welcomed. At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture proposed the idea of developing financing packages for agricultural producers who want to build/rehabilitate irrigation systems, develop business in the livestock sector or orient their activities to the processing sector. In this context, Alberto Carlei said that in the nearest future the EIB might allocate over 40 million euros for the Livada Moldovei (Fruit Garden of Moldova) project, in order to increase productivity and competitiveness of the agricultural sector. He also announced the EIB's intention to implement the mechanism, which will facilitate the payment of money to the beneficiaries' accounts in optimal terms and under flexible conditions. // 08.09.2022 - InfoMarket
