My Village agricultural fair has been launched in Chisinau with the Moldovan government promising to strengthen support for the agricultural sector.

In particular, the launching of the My Village agricultural fair at Moldexpo was attended by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea and Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu. For the duration of the fair, Moldovan agricultural producers are allotted an area of 6 thousand square meters. According to the Prime Minister, the initiative aims to reduce the distance between consumers and local producers, as well as to promote Moldovan agricultural products. "The current agricultural season has brought many problems to the agrarians. Long periods of drought have coincided with the global energy crisis, and the war in the region has created unpredictable situations. I want the producers to have good sales, and consumers to be satisfied with the choice, quality and price of local products," said the head of the government. Natalia Gavrilita also stressed that the agricultural sector has received the greatest budget support this year, and the government will continue to support the development of the industry. She reminded that this year the government increased the subsidizing fund for agriculture from 1 billion to 1.7 billion lei. "Also this year we managed to increase export quotas to the European Union for a number of agricultural products and liberalize road transportation with the European Union, which will facilitate this export. The executive branch, which I have the honor to lead, was, is and remains a strong ally of Moldovan agriculture," the Prime Minister stressed. Natalia Gavrilita said that being a candidate country to the European Union will open new opportunities for investments, projects and subsidies to the Moldovan agriculture. The Prime Minister also urged agricultural producers to submit their applications to existing support funds for the agricultural sector, such as the Regional and Local Development Fund, the Environmental Fund and the Agricultural Subsidies Fund. My Village agricultural fair, jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Agriculture, will be held at Moldexpo every weekend of September and October from 09:00 to 18:00. // 05.09.2022 - InfoMarket
