Moldova and Romania have signed an agreement on the introduction of coordinated control at the Fălciu-Cantemir railway crossing

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this document was signed in Bucharest by Moldovan Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin and Romanian Interior Minister Cătălin Predoiu. Thanks to the signed agreement, citizens and carriers will be able to cross the border at the Fălciu-Cantemir crossing point faster, safer, and more comfortably. This is the first case of coordinated control at a railway crossing in both directions of traffic. This will reduce waiting times, eliminate queues, and simplify formalities for citizens and economic agents, contributing to the development of cross-border trade and exports. At the same time, the authorities of the two countries are strengthening cooperation to enhance border security. The resumption of operations at the Fălciu-Cântemir railway crossing is of strategic importance, as it is part of the European Union's Solidarity Lanes initiative and contributes to Moldova's connection to the European transport network. During the meeting, the Moldovan and Romanian interior ministers discussed cooperation in the field of police and border services, agreeing on measures to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in the context of security challenges in the region. “The signing of this agreement is an important step in strengthening the partnership between Moldova and Romania and bringing citizens closer to the European space,” the Moldovan Interior Ministry said. // 02.10.2025 – InfoMarket.
