Moldelectrica completed its first electricity purchase on the day-ahead market (DAM), managed by the Moldovan Energy Market Operator (OPEM)
According to a statement from the state-owned company, "this transaction marks a new step in the implementation of competitive mechanisms for the procurement of electricity to cover operational consumption and is in line with European energy market practices." Beginning with the delivery date of July 10, Moldelectrica purchased a portion of the electricity needed to cover its own operational consumption on the DAM. The transaction covered a total volume of 12 MWh. This purchase represents the transmission system operator's first participation in the trading mechanisms of an organized market managed by OPEM and is an important milestone in the development of transparent and competitive processes for the procurement of electricity for operational consumption. As noted by Moldelectrica, participation in the day-ahead market allows for the procurement of electricity on competitive terms, based on market mechanisms and prices established by correlating supply and demand, which contributes to increased economic efficiency and the optimization of costs associated with in-house technological consumption. // 09.07.2026 – InfoMarket
