In 2025, the volume of natural gas transported through Moldova amounted to 1.797 billion cubic meters, a 30% increase compared to the previous year
According to the National Agency for Energy Regulation, this increase is due to the introduction of the special capacity product "Route 1" in reverse mode on the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, which is part of the Vertical Corridor for transporting gas from LNG terminals in Greece to underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine. Moldova itself imported over 960.3 million cubic meters of natural gas in 2025, a 5.8% increase compared to 2024. ANRE emphasizes that Moldova no longer consumes Russian gas. Natural gas was purchased from traders and international suppliers registered in Romania, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Bulgaria. In 2025, Moldova stored 145.4 million cubic meters. Each supplier accumulated these reserves of natural gas in proportion to its market share. The volume of stored gas represents 15% of the country's average annual consumption. Suppliers stored natural gas in underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine, Romania, Austria, Poland, Italy, and Hungary. //25.02.2026 – InfoMarket.
