In Moldova, starting April 1, all large non-residential gas consumers will operate exclusively within the free market, although only 40% of them have so far signed contracts on the free market - the ANRE

This was announced by the National Agency for Energy Regulation, which also noted that, in accordance with the Natural Gas Market Liberalization Calendar, approved by ANRE on September 30, 2025, and published on the agency's website, starting April 1, all large non-residential consumers will operate exclusively within the free gas market. In accordance with the provisions of Article 114, paragraph (4) of the Natural Gas Law, large and medium-sized non-residential consumers are required to select a supplier on a competitive market and sign a contract valid until a specified deadline. Currently, of the 204 target large consumers, only 82 have completed the contracting process on the free market. The list of large consumers can be found on the ANRE website. The energy regulator warns that, as of April 1, large non-residential consumers without a valid contract with a supplier on the open market may be left without natural gas supplies. The absence of a contract, according to legal provisions, may lead to a cessation of supplies, which could impact economic activity and the continuity of operations of target enterprises. In this context, ANRE invites all large and medium-sized non-residential consumers to participate in the forum organized by the agency, "Liberalization of the Natural Gas Market in Moldova," which will be held on February 19. The event will provide essential information on the process of transitioning to the open market, consumer rights and obligations, and specific steps to be taken. A "Business to Business" (B2B) session will be held simultaneously, allowing participants to directly communicate with licensed suppliers and identify potential contractual partners. ANRE urges all target consumers to approach this mandatory stage with the utmost responsibility and to promptly take the necessary steps to comply with legal requirements. // 16.02.2026 — InfoMarket
