Gas tariffs for end consumers of Moldova have been reduced, as the average annual purchase price forecast for 2026 is €404 per 1,000 cubic meters, compared to €487 included in the previous tariff - the National Energy Regulatory Agency

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) announced the reduction in regulated prices for natural gas supplies as a result of lower gas procurement costs. The decision to reduce gas tariffs for end consumers was taken by ANRE on February 3 as an emergency measure to quickly reflect the relevant changes in the natural gas market and prevent the accumulation of financial deviations. The decision will take effect upon publication in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova). ANRE specified that the average annual purchase price of natural gas forecast for 2026 is approximately €404 per 1,000 cubic meters (equivalent to approximately €38/MWh), compared to approximately €487 per 1,000 cubic meters (equivalent to €46/MWh) included in the regulated price structure for 2025, which represents a decrease of almost 17%. The energy regulator emphasized that this reduction in the purchase cost of gas is directly reflected in the final price paid by consumers. At the same time, when setting prices, ANRE included in its calculations adjustments for tariff deviations (surpluses) from the beginning of 2026 for a total amount of more than 330 million lei. These amounts are returned to consumers through a reduction in regulated prices in effect from February to December 2026. As a result, for households connected to low-pressure gas distribution networks, which constitute the majority of households in Moldova, the regulated price effective from February 2026 is 13,353 lei per 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas (excluding VAT), which is 2.15 lei lower than the current price. This price includes all regulated components: the cost of purchasing natural gas, transportation and distribution services, the cost of delivery, as well as the regulated rate of return, set strictly in accordance with current legislation. In the structure of the final gas price paid by domestic consumers: the cost of natural gas itself is approximately 58%; distribution - approximately 36%; transportation - approximately 2.6%; supplier costs - approximately 2.7%; regulated profitability - 0.6%. ANRE notes that the above percentages are for informational purposes only and are calculated based on the current price structure. The percentages cannot be used to estimate or calculate regulated prices. The agency approves specific tariffs for each type of regulated activity. The regulated prices for natural gas supply, approved at the meeting on February 3, are as follows: at gas transmission network entry points - 7,906 lei, which is 3,105 lei less than the current price; at the exits of gas transmission networks - 8,270 lei, which is 2,831 lei less than the current price; at the exits of high-pressure gas distribution networks - 8,365 lei, which is 2,855 lei less than the current price; at the exits of medium-pressure gas distribution networks – 9,533 lei, which is 2,734 lei less than the current price; at the exits of low-pressure gas distribution networks – 13,353 lei, which is 2,149 lei less than the current price. ANRE stated that it will continue to monitor changes in the natural gas market and adjust regulated prices when conditions require it, in strict accordance with the provisions of industry legislation and tariff methodology, in order to ensure transparent and fair prices for end consumers. // 03.02.2026 – InfoMarket.
