China has provided Moldova with over $54 million in grant aid to date and is ready to allocate an additional $17 million to support new cooperation projects
This was announced by Chinese Ambassador to Moldova Dong Zhihua during a meeting with members of the Moldova-China Parliamentary Friendship Group. The meeting was chaired by Vlad Batrîncea, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Chairman of the Moldova-China Friendship Group. The meeting, which was attended by members of all parliamentary factions, confirms Moldova's broad interest in developing sustainable, pragmatic, and mutually beneficial cooperation with China. During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening interparliamentary dialogue, advancing trade and economic cooperation and investment, and expanding educational, tourism, and cultural exchanges. Vlad Batrîncea noted that for over 34 years, relations between Moldova and China have been developing, based on mutual respect and a commitment to achieving concrete results. He emphasized that China consistently respects Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Moldova respects the "one China" principle. Particular attention was paid to the results of the recent visit of the inter-party parliamentary delegation to China, which took place at the official invitation of the Chinese side. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament noted that the visit provided an opportunity to hold substantive meetings with the leadership of China's highest legislative body, representatives of the Communist Party of China, and other officials, as well as to learn about China's best practices in green energy, infrastructure, industrial development, and public administration. Vlad Batrîncea thanked the embassy for its initiative to organize visits to China by members of parliament from all parliamentary factions this year and in the future. He emphasized that regular exchange of experience, direct contacts, and knowledge of China's development practices are an important foundation for strengthening bilateral relations. During the discussions, issues of expanding access for Moldovan products to the Chinese market, including agricultural products, grains, oils, honey, and wine, were discussed. Prospects for cooperation in the areas of affordable modern medicine and attracting organized groups of Chinese tourists to Moldova were also discussed. Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Dong Zhihua once again called on members of the Friendship Group to visit China and emphasized that, to date, China has provided Moldova with non-repayable aid totaling over $54 million and trained approximately 1,600 specialists in various fields. In the first half of 2026 alone, approximately 150 Moldovan participants received training in China, and the total number of participants for the entire year is expected to reach a new record. Furthermore, China has an additional $17 million in non-repayable aid for Moldova, which can be consistently used to support new high-quality cooperation projects. The parties confirmed their interest in continuing regular contacts at the parliamentary level, developing practical interaction, and supporting joint projects. // 06.07.2026 — InfoMarket
