This was stated by the new Japanese Ambassador to Moldova, Kazuyuki Takeuchi, at a meeting with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. The officials noted the friendly relations between our countries and discussed opportunities to expand Moldovan-Japanese cooperation. During the meeting, the Prime Minister also praised Japan as an important partner for Moldova, providing ongoing support for its development through projects to modernize the healthcare sector, education, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and strengthen institutional capacity. In turn, the diplomat stated that Japan will continue to support our country's economic development, emphasizing the interest of Japanese companies in investing in Moldova. The advantages of Moldova's participation in the World Expo in Osaka last year and new opportunities for promoting our country were discussed. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the volume of Moldovan exports to Japan in 2025, compared to 2024, decreased by 25.3% - to $3.4 million, while Japanese imports to Moldova increased by 16.5% - to $126.5 million.
