Maib supports the development of the Model Schools Network in the country. A contract providing for an investment of MDL 2 million has been signed with the Ministry of Education and Research

The leader of the banking sector continues to invest in the future of the Republic of Moldova by supporting quality education. In this regard, maib, the Ministry of Education and Research, and the NGO “Junior Achievement Moldova” have signed a tripartite grant financing contract worth MDL 2 million to support the development of the Model Schools Network in the country. This initiative is part of the National Partnership “Moldova for Education”.

This initiative is part of maib’s commitment to support sustainable projects that create real impact in the community. The funding will contribute to the implementation of the project “Economic and Entrepreneurial Education in Model Schools” by strengthening the network and will target activities carried out in 35 model schools across the country. The project will be implemented during the period October 1, 2025 – December 31, 2026, in partnership with school managers and teachers, local public authorities, as well as with the support of maib branches in the localities where these model schools are located.

Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research, stated:
“The National Partnership Moldova for Education shows how the Government, the private sector, and international partners can join forces to transform the country’s schools into true modern educational centers. Maib’s contribution to the development of the Model Schools Network is a concrete example of this joint effort, which brings direct benefits to students and teachers and builds the future of the Republic of Moldova through quality education.”
Through this partnership, maib will support: the organization of training sessions for teachers; the provision of methodological materials for students and teachers; the implementation of educational activities and events with a formative impact, etc.

Giorgi Shagidze, CEO of maib, emphasized:
“At maib, we believe that our mission goes beyond banking. It’s about people, about building a better future for everyone. Education is the most valuable investment, because it helps you discover your potential and achieve your dreams. This investment by maib means giving children in Moldova the chance to grow up in an environment that inspires them and helps them build a brighter future. We are convinced that when we support future generations, we truly make a difference.”
The partner selected for the implementation of the project was Junior Achievement Moldova, an association whose mission is to motivate and prepare the young generation to succeed in the market economy.

Laurenția Filipschi, Executive Director of Junior Achievement Moldova, emphasized:
"This project aims to strengthen all the efforts of model school managers and teachers to support students and young people in acquiring essential life skills, unique experiences, and in shaping themselves as autonomous and creative individuals who know how to act effectively and responsibly in a constantly changing society. And all of this is driven by the desire to provide children and young people with the opportunity to develop economic and financial thinking, which will serve as a driver of prosperity and sustainability for people and communities."

The Model Schools Network is a strategic program of the Ministry of Education and Research, designed to transform selected schools into true examples of best practices – both through infrastructure and modern teaching methods. The initiative benefits from the support of the World Bank, the European Union, the Governments of Poland and Norway, UNDP, UNICEF, as well as private companies.

It is worth noting that this initiative complements a wide range of projects supported by maib in the field of education, such as Tekwill Junior Ambassadors, STEAM Challenge, The Equality Primer, partnerships with higher education institutions, and programs dedicated to developing the financial and digital skills of the new generation, among others.
