The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova is in constant dialogue with transport workers, but opposes their proposal to increase the tariff for passenger transportation by more than 2 times.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andrei Spinu, calling also unacceptable such blackmail on the part of transport workers who threaten to stop transportation. “We are in constant dialogue with the transport workers, by phone, through other channels. We hold meetings. Carriers want to double tariffs and increase them even further in some cases. If now the tariff is 60-70 bans per 1 km, then they want tariffs in the amount of more than one lei. But I told them very clearly that until there are calculations, information, understanding of how they set this tariff, I personally will not sign any document on the increase in tariffs. It should be clear to everyone that doubling, trebling of tariffs based on out-of-mind, unreasonable calculations cannot take place, ”said Andrei Spinu. According to him, the transport workers lacked a little patience, since the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development will soon present all their calculations to them. “We will meet as often as necessary to clarify positions. I am sorry that they are blackmailing us, but, above all, ordinary people, by stopping traffic. I am for freedom of protest, but within the limits of the law. I am ready to listen, to meet as much as necessary, but there is no need to blackmail people by stopping trips, especially when they ask to double, and sometimes triple rates. During the week we will hold a press conference at which we will present all the details and all the requests of the transport workers, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister. He also drew attention to one important detail. “All carriers could still apply a tariff at the level of not 60, but 70 bans per 1 km, but only less than 5% of transport workers can apply it, and the rest apply a tariff of 60 bans per 1 km, since they did not renew their fleet, did not invest funds to modernize and improve the comfort of transport. Even today they could increase the tariff by at least 10 bans if they wanted to, ”said Andrei Spinu. “We, as a ministry, worked in an accelerated mode on the problems of the gas crisis, and on projects in the energy sector, and on the roads. Now we are conducting discussions with transport workers on the tariff for transportation. We are in the procedure of the necessary analysis, consideration of the problem, we will present our vision, we do not run away from responsibility, "he said. // 15.11.2021 — InfoMarket
