Chisinau Airport bears the name of composer Eugen Doga

The decision was adopted by the government at a meeting on Wednesday as a sign of gratitude and respect for the maestro, in order to perpetuate the memory of the great composer Eugen Doga, an outstanding figure in the field of musical art who made a special contribution to the development and promotion of national culture. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the name of Eugen Doga may arouse interest and curiosity among foreign tourists and visitors, helping to strengthen the country's cultural image. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development emphasized that Eugen Doga was a figure respected by the whole society, regardless of political or ethnic views, and that renaming the Chisinau airport in his honor could be a factor in national unity and shared pride. As noted, it is customary throughout the world to name international airports after prominent national figures. Examples include Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw, Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, and John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. In this way, Moldova will follow the internationally recognized model of respect for national values. // 16.07.2025 — InfoMarket
