As part of the state enterprise "Railways of Moldova" optimization process, 21 out of 71 railway stations will be transformed into railway stopping points by the end of 2025.
This was reported by the state enterprise "Railways of Moldova", noting that it continues the process of optimizing the structure and production process, and by the end of this year, 21 out of 71 railway stations will be transformed into railway stopping points. As noted, experts studied and analyzed the logistics of freight transport operations on the country's railway line and determined that part of the railway infrastructure has not been used in the production process for many years. At the same time, the maintenance and servicing of these railway sections, buildings and auxiliary structures leads to unjustified expenses, aggravating the difficult financial situation of the enterprise. The decision to change the status of stations to railway stopping points will allow to redirect about 3 million lei monthly to cover the salary debt of employees, optimize the production process, including the expansion and consolidation of neighboring junction stations. A railway stopping point involves boarding and disembarking passengers to/from suburban and local trains, without receiving and issuing baggage, in the absence of service personnel and in the absence of other facilities characteristic of a full-fledged station. // 16.06.2025 — InfoMarket
