New rules for technical inspection come into force in Moldova
A new regulation on periodic technical inspection of vehicles came into force on June 1. It provides for a change in the frequency of technical inspection. Thus, owners of cars with a service life of up to 10 years will undergo technical inspection once every 2 years, and not annually as is currently the case. At the same time, for buses, taxis, ambulances, vehicles involved in the transportation of dangerous goods, and training vehicles up to 10 years old, technical inspection will be carried out once a year, and not once every six months, as is currently the case. The system of classification of technical defects has also changed: minor defects - allow the vehicle to remain in circulation without the need for a new technical inspection; major defects - require the elimination of faults within the specified period; dangerous defects - the vehicle is excluded from circulation until completely eliminated. Herewith, the procedures for identifying vehicles and their owners are simplified. Drivers will only have to present identification documents during technical inspection, and vehicle data will be checked automatically through the Autotest system. The Motor Transport Agency announced the modernization of the Autotest information system. In the future, other options will be integrated, such as automatic confirmation of payment of the road fee. // 02.06.2025 – InfoMarket.
