Railways of Moldova Company (CFM) continues to restore and modernize the railway infrastructure to resume railway traffic on the Cantemir-Falciu section

According to a statement by the state-owned CFM, it has completed the installation of 550 meters of broad-gauge railway line from the Prut station to the loading and unloading platform, and subsequent work will be carried out in the European direction. The CFM emphasizes that the 4 km section of the Cantemir-Falciu railway line occupies a strategic position on Moldova's border with the European Union, and the resumption of rail traffic on this section is becoming an alternative to freight transit in the context of diversifying export routes for Moldova. The restoration of the railway infrastructure, including the railway bridge and the Prut 2 (Moldova) and Falciu (Romania) border stations, is being carried out on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on the resumption of railway traffic between Prut and Falciu, signed on April 14, 2025, by the CFM and the Romanian National Railway Company (CFR). // 10.06.2025 – InfoMarket.
