This was discussed during the meeting of the Road Fund Council held by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, where a report on the execution of the budget of the "Road Fund Allocation Program for National Public Roads for 2024" was presented. According to the document presented by the State Roads Administration, a total of about 2 billion lei were allocated from the budget for the maintenance and repair of national public roads. The spent amount of all works performed from January to December 2024 exceeded 1.9 billion lei, which is 96.7% of the planned amount. Most of the amount was allocated for the maintenance of national public roads - 1.1 billion lei. The works were carried out through 12 specialized companies of Drumuri JSC. The implemented measures include activities for the maintenance of national public roads in winter, development of passenger stops, arrangement of roundabouts, intersections and pedestrian crossings. Also, out of the total amount of 666 million lei, it was allocated for the reconstruction and repair of national public roads and engineering structures, and over 65 million lei were spent on the design and assessment of roads and land acquisition. "Infrastructure is an important pillar of sustainable economic development, and with the support of the European Union, through assistance of 1.9 billion euros, we have the opportunity to accelerate its modernization. In this way, we will allow ourselves to build a solid base for the economic growth of the country," Dorin Recean said. Another topic of the meeting concerned the Action Plan of the Road Fund Council for 2025. This year, an initial budget of about 1.7 billion lei was allocated for national public roads, and the priority is to improve traffic conditions in terms of road condition and road safety. During today's meeting, the need for funds to achieve the strategic goals of the "Mobility Strategy 2030" was also presented.
