
The repair of the 30 km segment of the national road R6 Chisinau-Orhei-Balti is completed at 70% in the first section and at 27% in the second section.
It will be completed in full by March 2022; the cost of the EBRD-financed project is 36 million euros. The State Roads Administration of Moldova reported this, noting that its representatives inspected on-site the progress in the repair of the bypass road in Singerei and the Prepelica - Saratenii Vechi section, as part of the restored section of the R6 Chisinau-Orhei-Balti national road. The restoration works of this segment of the national road are divided into two sections with a total length of about 30 km. The contractor is the Turkish company ONUR Taahut Tasimacilik Insaat Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. Acting General Director of the State Roads Administration, Sergiu Bejan, noted that the contractor was recommended to focus on the maintenance of road sections during the repair and organization of construction sites by installing speed limit signs, performing temporary markings to ensure road safety, especially in winter. The contracts for the repair of the R6 national road include the reconstruction of the existing road system, the rehabilitation of 10 bridges, the construction of bridges, the reinforcement of the anti-landslide embankment on the Singerei bypass road, the installation of 605 road signs and the application of appropriate road markings. Reconstruction work on two sections of the road is estimated at 36 million euros. These funds were allocated to the Moldovan government by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development within the framework of the Road Sector Program.
