Moldova to introduce an annual payment of 3,000 lei for children with disabilities
The corresponding legislative initiative has been registered in parliament. During a briefing on Wednesday, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru and Member of Parliament Ludmila Adamciuc announced that the measure will be universal and will cover more than 13,000 children. The payment will be provided automatically, without the need to submit applications. The initiative aims to support families raising children with disabilities. The Minister of Labor and Social Protection noted that in recent years, the level of support for this category of citizens has increased significantly: the social allowance for people with disabilities under the age of 23 has been increased to 2,448 lei (in 2020, it was 857 lei), and payments for those caring for children with severe disabilities exceed 2,600 lei per month. At the same time, transportation subsidies and other forms of financial assistance are provided. In addition to cash payments, the development of social services continues: personal assistance, mobile teams, day centers, etc. Currently, there are 9 day centers for people with disabilities operating in Moldova, serving approximately 610 people, and the Respiro service network will be expanded with the opening of 6 new facilities in the municipality of Bălți, as well as in the Rîșcani, Cahul, Dondușeni, Criuleni, and Anenii Noi districts. A National Program for the Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities for 2026–2030 is also being developed, aimed at improving the accessibility and effectiveness of the social protection system. // 06.05.2026 — InfoMarket
