Moldova will modernize its drug authorization system to facilitate access to treatment and promote the development of the pharmaceutical sector
Specifically, the government approved a resolution on Wednesday regarding the procedure for authorizing and marketing drugs for human use. The new provisions will reduce the administrative burden and allow patients to gain faster access to safe, effective, and high-quality medicines. The document establishes clear rules for all stages a medicinal product goes through before it reaches patients—from the submission of documents to final approval. Specific deadlines and clearly defined responsibilities are also introduced for all participants in this process. An important element of the draft is the introduction of several types of authorization procedures: general, simplified, expedited, conditional, and joint. Depending on the situation, these will simplify and expedite access to medicines in the domestic market, including for innovative treatments or in emergency situations. As noted by the Ministry of Health, changes to the drug authorization procedure will strengthen the healthcare system and create more favorable conditions for the development of the pharmaceutical sector. // 08.04.2026 – InfoMarket.
