The ranking is based on the Passport Value Index compiled by the Nomad Capitalist consulting company. The ranking evaluates the visa-free capabilities of a passport of citizens of a particular country, as well as taxation of citizens, the level of personal freedoms, international reputation and the right to dual citizenship. The Moldovan passport received 76 points out of 150 possible and was placed in the ranking between Micronesia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The leaders of the ranking were: Ireland, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal, Malta, Italy, Luxembourg, Finland, Norway, the UAE. Neighboring Romania took 21st place, Ukraine - 73rd, Russia - 95th.
