The European Commission has set October 12 as the date for the gradual launch of the Entry/Exit System (EES) to be also used by Moldovan citizens
The EES is a cutting-edge technological system. It will digitally record the entry and exit of citizens of non-EU countries arriving for short stays in 29 European countries, including Schengen countries. The system will collect biometric data such as fingerprints, facial images, and other travel information, gradually replacing the current system of stamping passports. The system will guarantee the protection and security of travelers' personal data. The EES will modernize and improve the management of the EU's external borders. It will provide reliable data on border crossings, systematically identify persons who have overstayed their stay, and detect cases of document and identity fraud. Starting October 12, EU countries will gradually introduce the EES over a period of six months. Border authorities will gradually register the data of third-country nationals crossing the border. Within six months, the EES should be fully implemented at all border crossings. // 31.07.2025 — InfoMarket
