The Moldovan government has approved a new draft law on medicines to improve their production, strengthen market surveillance and attract new foreign manufacturers
As reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, the sphere of medicines will be regulated by the new law. It is planned that the new legislative provisions will improve the production and distribution of medicines. This will ensure a higher level of public health protection, the availability of safe and effective treatment methods and a transparent regulatory system for the pharmaceutical industry. Key provisions include ensuring the quality and safety of medicines by introducing new requirements for their testing, authorization and monitoring. The market surveillance system will also be strengthened and measures against counterfeit medicines will be tightened. The document is aimed at reducing the shortage of vital medicines, attracting foreign manufacturers to the domestic market, increasing the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical market and facilitating the state's participation in international clinical trials. These factors will provide patients with a wide choice of medicines, favorable prices and quality medical care. The law also regulates parallel imports, establishing a clear system for placing medicines on the market that are authorized in other countries in order to ensure continuity of supply and competitive prices. The law introduces clear rules for the prescription and dispensing of drugs, distinguishing between prescription-only drugs and over-the-counter drugs. // 12.02.2025 — InfoMarket
