The results of the “Financial Education for All” campaign together with the National Strategic Program of Financial Education will be presented at the National Forum in Chisinau on December 10
The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) announced this, noting that the NBM, in partnership with the Expert-Grup Independent Think Tank, will organize the National Forum of Financial Education, an event that will gather more than 100 participants. The Forum will take place on December 10 and will present the results of the “Financial Education for All” national campaign, one of the biggest initiatives of this type in Moldova's history, carried out with the financial support of the USAID Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA). The campaign includes activities aimed at increasing citizens' financial knowledge and supporting the development of responsible financial behavior. The campaign was launched following an extensive survey in Moldova, supported by USAID Moldova, which revealed that about 2/3 of citizens have an “average” level of financial knowledge, while 19.4% reported a low level. Respondents also indicated a low interest in investment and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the need for additional educational actions. These findings also formed the basis for the development of the National Strategic Program for Financial Education, which will be presented at the same meeting. “At NBM, we see financial education as a strategic action, and the National Financial Education Program reflects our strong commitment to translate this vision into reality for every citizen. We are confident that this Program will open doors to new opportunities, offer practical tools to all citizens - from children and youth to vulnerable groups and pensioners - and support the reforms that Moldova so badly needs,” said Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova. Expert-Grup Executive Director Adrian Lupusor said that all of us sooner or later make financial decisions, be it opening a bank account or a bank deposit, getting a loan or credit, taking out an insurance policy or investing in financial instruments. “Accordingly, it is important that everyone has access to quality and relevant information to support adequate financial education. The economic and social well-being of the entire country depends on this aspect,” he emphasized. The Forum on 10 December will bring together high-ranking officials, representatives of state institutions, experts from Moldova and Romania, international organizations and civil society. The Forum will be a platform for discussing the results of the campaign, exchanging best practices and identifying new opportunities for cooperation. // 06.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
