On the International Tourism Day, Moldova hosted a national tourism forum and awarded the best companies in the industry

Over 100 companies from the tourism sector, representatives of sectoral ministries and departments, as well as development partners that support this sector in Moldova, participated in the national tourism and peace forum on September 27. This year, the event was held under the slogan proposed by the World Tourism Organization: "Tourism and Peace". Industry representatives discussed the opportunities and potential of rural tourism and the creation of sustainable rural communities. They also discussed technologies in tourism and innovations - from artificial intelligence to augmented reality. In addition, a separate panel was dedicated to tourism as a tool of diplomacy and the impact of the industry on the development of dialogue and diplomacy at the international level. At the end of the day, the best companies in the tourism sector were awarded, selected from 98 submitted dossiers. Both events were organized by the Ministry of Culture and the National Tourism Office with the strategic support of the USAID-funded project "Enhancing the Competitiveness and Resilience of Rural Areas in Moldova". Support was also provided by the EU, the Swiss Cooperation Office, UNDP, the American Fund for Moldova-Ukraine Enterprises, Cricova Winery, MIMI Castle, the National Association of Inbound and Domestic Tourism, and others. // 27.09.2024 — InfoMarket.
