Citizens who buy their own health insurance policy can already purchase it.
According to the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), the policy must be paid independently by those who are not officially employed or not insured. According to the law on funds of compulsory medical insurance for 2023, this year the cost of health insurance policy has increased 3-fold - from 4,056 to 12,636 lei. At the same time, until March 31, the policy can be purchased at a preferential price, which will remain at the current level. In particular, the owners of agricultural lands, except for vegetable gardens and gardening plots, can pay for the policy 1,014 lei, regardless of whether they have or have not leased these lands by contract; 1,622 lei - individuals engaged in independent retail activity; 2,028 lei - individual entrepreneurs, individual tenants/users of agricultural lands and owners of entrepreneurial patents; 4,056 lei - mediators, notaries, attorneys, bailiffs, forensic experts, interpreters and translators, authorized managers, regardless of the legal form of activity, who obtained a certificate, license or authorization in the manner prescribed by law, as well as non-working persons self-employed in family medicine. Non-working Moldovan citizens, who stay in the country for at least 183 days per year, as well as non-working foreigners, who have been granted the right of temporary stay in Moldova for family reunification, education, humanitarian, volunteer or religious activities, will also be able to buy the policy at the valid price – 2,028 lei. At the same time, those Moldovan citizens, who are unemployed and stayed on the territory of Moldova for more than 183 calendar days, will have to pay the full amount of the insurance fee, in order to get the status of those insured within the Mandatory Health Insurance system after March, 31.
