The minimum wage in Moldova may increase up to 4,500 lei, starting January 1, 2023.

This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari in the program "Let's talk about money" on the Yellow Pages portal. According to him, the agency insisted that the size of the minimum wage is set on January 1, and not May 1, as before, to ensure predictability of decisions for businesses. At the same time, the government is negotiating with patronages and trade unions to increase the minimum wage. An increase of 1,000 lei to 4,500 lei is tentatively being discussed. "Of course, trade unions want 5000 lei minimum wage, but businesses have their own arguments. But the fact that the minimum wage will increase by the level of inflation - that's for sure," the minister stressed. Marcel Spatari also recalled that this year the minimum wage became unified in the real and public sectors. This unification gave business predictability, while to the Ministry of Finance - the ability to properly calculate the budget parameters. Let us remind that at present the minimum wage in Moldova is 3,500 lei. // 29.09.2022 – InfoMarket
