Compensations for gas and heat will be provided to domestic consumers living at the address of households, including tenants.

Compensations for gas and heat will be provided to domestic consumers living at the address of households, including tenants.

The head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari stated this at a press conference while answering journalists' questions about the principles of compensation in this heating season. He explained that the Regulation on the assignment of categories of energy vulnerability and the procedure for establishing and paying compensation when paying energy bills is under discussion, but compensation is expected to be received by most consumers. According to him, only the mechanism for establishing the categories of energy vulnerability of consumers is being discussed, the amount of compensation will be determined later, based on the financial resources of the budget, tariffs and the availability of energy resources in principle. Spatari explained that the compensation will be given to consumers, but not to the owners of the property, which has a point of energy consumption. Accordingly, the state assistance will be available to all, including individuals who rent their houses. For this purpose, each tenant will have to register in the information system compensatii.gov.md, declare under his own responsibility that he/she pays bills for a certain point of consumption and submit all the necessary documents to establish his/her degree of energy vulnerability. As for the beneficiaries of assistance for firewood purchase (over 240 thousand beneficiaries in the current season), they receive 700 lei per month to buy firewood and other support measures are envisaged for them. For example, next year a program of vouchers for the purchase of home appliances will be launched, which is aimed at reducing the energy vulnerability of citizens. As InfoMarket news agency previously reported, the categories of energy vulnerability are proposed to be established depending on the ratio of expenditures for energy resources and family income for one point of consumption of gas or thermal energy, with mandatory submission of an application by the consumer on the website compensatii.gov.md. There are four categories of energy vulnerability (very high, high, medium, low), and one category of invulnerable consumers - families who own four or more apartments or real estate worth more than 10 million lei, or whose members earn more than 75 thousand lei per month, as well as consumers who voluntarily refused to receive compensation. It is proposed to grant separately minimal compensations to citizens who are not registered in the compensation system. On average, according to preliminary calculations of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, it will be compensated about 41% of the tariff for gas and 56% of the tariff for heating, and this will require about 5.7 billion lei. // 21.09.2022 - InfoMarket
