
In Moldova, wages at large enterprises are 1.5 times higher than at small ones.
Such data were presented by the National Bureau of Statistics in the annual study "Wages, labor costs and the number of employees in 2021". Thus, if in enterprises with 250 employees or more the average salary last year was 11,281.3 lei, then in companies with 1-9 employees, the salary was 6797.2 lei, 10-49 employees - 8090.4 lei, 50 -249 employees - 9707.7 lei. Also, in the public sector of the economy, salaries were almost 20% less than in the state sector (7828.6 lei against 9360.3 lei). The data of the NBS indicate that in most sectors of the economy, men receive higher salaries than women, and in some sectors this difference is most pronounced: finance and insurance - a difference of 8953.3 lei (41.4%), in the field of ICT (a difference of 10,366.7 lei, or 39.2%), in industry (by 1,820.7 lei, or 2%). Only in two sectors of the economy, the wages of women were higher than those of men: in the field of education - by 253.6 lei (by 3.5%) and in the field of administrative and supporting services - by 603.9 lei (by 9.3%) . The salary level in Chisinau is 22.1% higher than at the national level. The lowest wages were registered in Basarabeasca (5918.2 lei), Briceni (6129.9 lei), Falesti regions (6279.3 lei). According to the NBS, last year the average nominal salary in Moldova was 8979.8 lei, having increased by 13.1% over the year, and after taxation - 7634 lei (+15.4% per year): taxes accounted for 15% of the gross salaries, which is 1.7 p.p. less than in 2020.
