The Ministry of the Environment recommends that suppliers reconsider their water supply schedule and encourages the public and businesses to reduce their water consumption.
During the interdepartmental working meeting held on Wednesday, measures were agreed to rationalize, conserve and protect water resources during the period of hydrological drought. Based on its results, a series of recommendations were presented for the population, economic agents, central and local authorities, and water suppliers. In particular, it is recommended to conserve water resources in industrial and agricultural activities, reduce water losses, limit the use of water for household needs, ensure adequate storage of water in tanks, etc. In order to bring the pressure in the pipelines to the optimum level, which ensures the supply of water to consumers, it is recommended that water suppliers introduce an hourly supply (for example, limit the water supply from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00). According to the data of the Hydrometeorological Service of Moldova, until the end of July, the low water level will remain on the rivers (with the exception of some left tributaries of the Dniester) and will be: on the Dniester - 30-40% of the average monthly long-term values (“yellow” code); on the Prut River - 15-30% ("orange" code); on small rivers - 10-20% ("orange" code), and on some small rivers - up to 10% of the average monthly long-term values ("red" code). It is reported that some sections of the rivers Delia, Nirnova, Sarata, Tigheci, Solonet, Cogâlnic, Cula, Cusmirca, Bicovat, Lunga, Lunguta, Salcia Mare, and Cahul have dried up. The ministry also emphasizes that, due to the drought, restrictions on the use of water have already been introduced in some countries (Italy, Romania, Spain, Portugal, etc.).// 27.07.2022 — InfoMarket
