From April 1, the pension indexation coefficient in Moldova will be calculated based on the inflation rate at the end of the year, and will amount to 13.94% this year.

This is provided for by amendments to the Law on the State Pension System and the Law on Social Assistance, which was approved by Parliament in the final reading. The changes introduced unify the method of indexing pensions with the indexation of social assistance. At the same time, differential indexation will be applied to reduce the gap between the highest and lowest pensions. Thus, in the case of indexation in April, the indexation coefficient can only be applied to that part of the pension that does not exceed the average salary in the economy projected for 2022. For the current year it is 9900 lei. The introduction of partial indexation for pensions above the average salary in the economy will release funds from the state social insurance budget in the amount of 72 million lei in 2022. It should be noted that 1.3% of all pensions are above the average salary in the economy for the current year: out of 665 thousand pensions paid, 9190 exceed this ceiling. // 17.03.2022 — InfoMarket
