
Moldovans who are in seasonal jobs in Germany will receive advice and support on labor relations and rights issues.
An online cooperation agreement was signed by the Secretary of State for Labor and Social Affairs Felicia Bechtoldt and Christian Hossbach, President of the Council of the trade union organization Arbeit und Leben Berlin (Work and Life in Berlin). The agreement aims to implement the memorandum of cooperation signed this summer between the Federal Employment Agency of Germany and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Moldova. Arbeit und Leben, which has specialized in protecting the rights of migrants for over 70 years, will advise and provide support to labor migrants from Moldova. As a reminder, from January 1, 2022, Moldovan citizens leaving for seasonal agricultural work in Germany will have the same rights as local workers. According to the agreement signed earlier, labor migrants will be provided with a number of guarantees: concluding an employment contract with the direct employer, providing a guarantee of legal residence by issuing a work permit, ensuring working conditions equal to those of local German workers engaged in the same activity, providing the employer with medical insurance for the work time, the opportunity to take advantage of vacation and social insurance in the case of long-term or repeated work of Moldovan workers. In addition, a clear recruitment mechanism was stipulated, based on the principle of ethical employment, it will ensure the legality of the migration process, and a mechanism is provided for the protection of Moldovan citizens in case of violation of their rights. // 14.12.2021 - InfoMarket
