The state of emergency in public health has been extended in Moldova until January 15, 2022.
The National Public Health Emergency Commission adopted the corresponding decision while taking into account the high level of new cases of coronavirus infection. So, last week, 5,391 cases of COVID-19 infection were officially confirmed, of which 80% are among unvaccinated citizens. The infection rate over the past week was 145 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. At the same time, 339 people died, which is 9.1 deaths per 100 thousand of the population (-14.4% compared to the previous week). The vaccination rate in Moldova is about 27%. It is noted that according to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), in most countries of the European region, the epidemiological situation related to COVID-19 is now worsening; the number of new infections is growing rapidly. Countries with low vaccination rates are most affected. Accordingly, the National Public Health Emergency Commission decided to maintain all existing restrictions at the national level with the possibility of revising them in accordance with the development of the epidemiological situation. The commission also decided that in settlements where the "orange" code is in effect, students of universities and vocational institutions will continue to study online, but will be able to take exams while being present a physically in the educational institution. Until now, the students’ physical presence was allowed only in practical sessions involving the use of technical equipment / laboratories and examination sessions. // 29.11.2021 – InfoMarket
