According to the Ministry of Health, the highest mortality rate is observed among the elderly: 15.6% of infected citizens aged 80 years and older died from complications, 8.4% of citizens aged 70-79 years and 4.1% of those who had coronavirus at the age of 60 -69 years old. In other age categories, less than 1.6% of those infected died from complications. It is worth noting that 1 child aged 1-5 years, 2 children aged 10-19 years died from complications of COVID-19 in Moldova, and no deaths were recorded among children under 1 year old and at the age of 5-9 years. According to the Ministry of Health, 5,440 coronavirus tests were processed over the past 24 hours, 55 of them were positive (1% of the total). Among the new cases, two were identified in citizens who recently arrived from the UK and Ireland. In total, 255,241 cases of COVID-19 infection have been registered in Moldova since March last year.
