The Public Services Agency (PSA) responded to the request of the MP of the Action and Solidarity party Dan Perciun, providing data on the death rate of the population in 2019-2020, as well as statistics for the previous several years. Last year, according to the information provided by the PSA, 39,963 deaths were registered, which is 3,195 people (+ 8.6%) more than in 2019.At the same time, the Ministry of Health reported on December 31 that since March 2020 from complications caused by COVID-19, 2,985 people died. Thus, other causes of death than coronavirus were registered in 36.7 thousand people. According to the PSA, the highest mortality rate in 2020 was registered in December (4099 people), in May (3872 people), in October (3829 people), and the lowest - in April (2276), in March (2706) and in August (2707). For comparison, in 2019 most of the deaths were registered in January (3996 people), and the least - in September (2628 people). At the same time, according to the PSA, the statistics of deaths are comparable with the data for 2015: 39,963 people versus 39,905 people. In 2016, 38,493 people died in Moldova, in 2017 - 36,768 people, in 2018 - 37,200 people.
