In Moldova will be tightened sanctions for illegal construction and will be introduced criminal penalties for this.
This is provided for by a corresponding draft amendment to the Criminal Code, which was presented on Thursday by MPs from the faction of the ruling party PAS, Vasile Gradinaru and Lilian Carp. According to the document, persons who have committed violations in construction, such as design, illegal permission, unauthorized construction work, final acceptance of unauthorized or illegal buildings, will be criminally liable for this. “Illegal constructions are not only a violation of the law, but also a direct threat to public safety. Violations consist of various aspects: from exceeding the height regime and violating the alignment of streets to reducing the standard distance between buildings. These disturbances cause not only visual discomfort, but also an increased risk in the event of an earthquake or other cataclysms. It is important that all these aspects are properly regulated by law, and those responsible for these violations are punished,” said Lilian Carp. It is provided that one of the following is a criminal act: exceeding the altitude regime, violating the alignment of streets, exceeding normal population density indicators; reduction of the standard distance between buildings. According to MP Vasile Gradinaru, the bill will provide for sanctions for every entity involved in the construction that acts intentionally or does not intervene to stop violations. With regard to construction performed in the absence or in violation of permits, the amendments provide for severe sanctions that will prevent illegal actions or inaction. At the same time, the draft law provides for a more efficient and timely assessment of the damage caused by abuse of office in order to justify the punishment of those responsible. “This bill is designed to solve two main tasks: close all doors to corruption in the construction industry and impose sanctions on everyone involved in the process of illegal construction,” Lilian Carp concluded.// 29.06.2023 — InfoMarket
