The construction of the Balti-Suceava power transmission line, the modernization of the old and the construction of a new power substation in Balti will be recognized as projects of national importance

This is envisaged by the draft law adopted by the Parliament in the first reading on the declaration of public utility of national importance of the works on the construction of the 400 kV Balti-Suceava overhead power transmission line (EPTL), the modernization of the 330 kV Balti power plant and the construction of a new 400 kV Balti power plant. Its approval will speed up the implementation of these major projects in the field of energy infrastructure and diversify the sources of electricity supply in Moldova, as well as increase the country's energy security. The approved draft law will speed up the administrative processes necessary for the development of construction works: issuance of permits, a special procedure for land expropriation, withdrawal of land affected by construction from agricultural or forestry use. At the same time, a procedure for paying compensation for the alienation of property is provided. The owners will be informed about this in advance and will be able to express their consent to receive fair compensation. The length of the 400 kV Balti-Suceava power line on the territory of our country will be about 48 km. 157 supports will be installed. The power line will pass through the territory of 12 settlements of Moldova. The government, through the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, will determine the owners of assets that are subject to permanent or temporary alienation during the construction work. Compensations will be paid by the government from the state budget. The bill contains some deviations from the law necessary to speed up administrative processes, as well as the issuance of permits for the implementation of projects. The total cost of the 400 kV Balti-Suceava power line construction project is 37 million euros, and it is planned to be completed by the end of 2027. Moldova will receive a loan of 14.8 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a loan of 14.8 million euros from the European Investment Bank and a grant of 7.4 million euros from the European Union for the implementation of the project. A tender for the company responsible for implementing the project is scheduled for May. The bill will be submitted to the Parliament for consideration in the second reading. The Balti-Suceava transmission line is one of three 400 kV transmission lines to be built to strengthen the interconnection with the European ENTSO-E power grid. These are the Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line, which will be completed in 2025, the Balti-Suceava transmission line, which is estimated to be completed in 2027, and the Straseni-Gutinas transmission line, which is planned to be completed by 2030.// 10.04.2025 – InfoMarket.
