The energy efficiency of more than 20 buildings where social services are provided will be improved

This is stipulated by the Cooperation Agreement on the implementation of the project “Local Partnerships for Energy Efficiency in Social Services”, signed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Soros Foundation in Moldova, Keystone Moldova and the Social Innovation Fund of Moldova. The project is funded by the European Union and aims to improve the infrastructure of social services by investing in the energy efficiency of the buildings where these services are provided. This will contribute to reducing resource consumption, optimizing maintenance costs and creating a safe and sustainable environment for visitors and service providers. In total, energy efficiency will be improved in 21 buildings where social services are provided, of which 19 are institutions subordinated to territorial social assistance agencies and 2 are institutions of administrative bodies subordinated to the Ministry. The Labor and Social Protection Ministry will be the beneficiary and co-financing party, contributing 10% of the total cost of the works - about 2.52 million lei. According to Minister Alexei Buzu, the partnership will allow transforming the social centers into energy-efficient, safe spaces, adapted to people's needs. At the same time, the Executive Director of the Soros Foundation in Moldova, Daniela Vidaicu, said that this initiative, backed by the European Union, emphasizes the importance of local partnerships - between civil society, state institutions and donors - in the transition to a sustainable development model, based on solidarity, efficiency and responsibility towards resources. It is worth noting that in addition to investments in the infrastructure of social institutions, the project also includes a component of support for local initiatives. Thus, at the beginning of April, 35 organizations received grant certificates for a total of about 87 thousand euros for activities promoting responsible energy consumption and the implementation of innovative energy efficiency solutions in social buildings. // 10.04.2025 - InfoMarket.
