Moldova will arrange loan of 3 million cubic meters of gas to Transnistria to maintain necessary pressure in gas system
This was announced by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, noting that this will allow maintaining pressure in the gas system and will provide a respite until January 31. This is one of the components of the aid package offered by the European Union to end the energy crisis, provide additional assistance to citizens and ensure long-term sustainability of the energy sector. The second component involves emergency intervention for the period from February 1 to 10. In total, the European Union will allocate a grant of 30 million euros for the purchase of natural gas, which will be used, among other things, to produce electricity for the right bank of the Dniester at anti-crisis prices, as well as to meet the needs of the Transnistrian region from February 1 to 10. The third component is aimed at a comprehensive energy sustainability program for the next 2 years. The Moldovan government and the EU will develop a comprehensive plan of measures to improve energy sustainability for the next 2 years. The plan consists of two components and provides for investments in the production and distribution of electricity to ensure the country's energy independence, as well as lower electricity tariffs for all Moldovans. "This complex program should be completed in the coming weeks, and we will make a public statement with specific amounts on how it will be implemented," Dorin Recean said. According to him, in essence, the European Union is once again coming to the aid of Moldova. "And these are not just words. The EU provides real assistance: heat, light, security for all of us. Chisinau did everything possible to resume gas supplies, and today's decision clearly demonstrates that problems that were not created by us can be solved through joint efforts. The solution that we propose today together with the EU is another proof of friendship and the real intention of the EU and friendly states to help make life easier for Moldovans," Dorin Recean said.// 27.01.2025 — InfoMarket.
