The Moldovan government is looking for lawyers who will help the country sue Gazprom - Dorin Recean
The Prime Minister of Moldova announced this while answering journalists' questions. The head of the Cabinet was asked why the government is not suing Gazprom in the case of allegedly fictitious debts, citing as an example the Ukrainian company Naftogaz, which, based on a similar audit, won against Gazprom in international arbitration. "The government is in the process of compiling a list of potential lawyers who can help Moldova in this process, as well as in the process of returning energy assets that were appropriated by Russia in one way or another," Dorin Recean responded. Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that an international independent audit conducted earlier confirmed that right-bank Moldova does not have the historical gas debt that Gazprom is talking about. It should be noted that, according to Gazprom, Moldovagaz's historical debt for gas consumed on the right bank of the Dniester is $709 million, but official Chisinau does not recognize it, citing the results of an independent international audit, which showed that most of the alleged debt is not documented or is overdue and is not subject to enforcement. // 15.01.2025 – InfoMarket.
