Major renewable energy producers have been invited to the Moldovan market.
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov invited them to participate in tenders for the construction of large renewable energy capacities, which will be held in Moldova this summer. In particular, Moldova's investment opportunities in the energy sector were discussed during a meeting between the Energy Minister and the director of the Emirati company Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, the director of the SolarPower Europe association, Walburga Hemetsberger, and the director of the WindEurope association, Giles Dickson, who specializes in renewable energy sources. The meetings took place in the framework of participation in the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council held in Baku. The winners of these auctions will have the opportunity to sell the produced energy at an auction price for a period of 15 years. "Even if the energy consumption market in Moldova is modest, the government is making a strategic effort to integrate Moldova's electricity network into the European grid, synchronized with ENTSO-E in 2022.Also this year, the Energy Exchange, a branch of OPCOM România, with 20 years of experience in this field, will become functional, which will create short-term electricity markets and integrate the Moldovan market into the European market. This will contribute to the development of cross-border energy trade and will increase the investment attractiveness for renewable energy producers in Moldova," the Energy Minister said. Victor Parlicov also touched upon the state support mechanisms for green energy producers, and reiterated the commitment to organize auctions in such a way as to ensure the widest possible participation, as well as a competitive and transparent process of determining the winners.
