Starting from September 2023, Moldovagaz invoices for gas will reflect a new indicator - the value of the higher calorific value.

This was announced by Vadim Ceban, Chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz. He noted that in order to apply the European standards in the natural gas sector, starting from September 2023, Moldovagaz will reflect in the invoices for natural gas the consumption of natural gas in cubic meters, the value of the higher heat of combustion and the total amount of consumed energy for information purposes. The head of Moldovagaz said that the use of the values of the consumed energy to calculate the consumption of natural gas will be applied after the adjustment of the normative framework in this respect, as well as the information program of the enterprise and the establishment of the price per unit of energy (kWh) for end users by the regulator. Earlier it was reported that Moldova, according to European standards, will switch to measuring natural gas in kilowatt-hours (kWh) instead of cubic meters. Moldovagaz head Vadim Ceban explained that the measurement of blue fuel in kWh allows for more accurate and fair gas accounting. According to him, a cubic meter of gas contains a different amount of energy depending on its composition, combustion temperature and pressure. Previously, Moldova received gas only from one supplier from Russia, but now the sources are different, and often the country receives a mixture of gases, which means that the composition of one cubic meter may differ depending on the batch it comes from. According to the head of Moldovagaz, the new calculation methodology will provide for payment not for the volume, but for the energy generated by burning natural gas in kWh. For consumers, the process of taking readings will not change: they will be taken in cubic meters, as before, as all measuring devices (meters) show data in cubic meters, and it is not possible to replace all the meters across the country in the near future. //27.09.2023 - InfoMarket.
